Default Has anyone tried this?

Don't laugh me out of here im not thinking about doing it permanently but has anyone put ricer mufflers on a v8? My exhaust guy has two brand new ricer mufflers he said he would give me for 10 dollars a piece. He always puts them on for free so im looking at 20 bucks so i think im going to do it for a little while.

What do you consider a ricer muffler? Like the tubular canisters with the tip attached? I wouldn't.

If you do put them on, find the nearest body of water and drive straight into it!

for $20 try it. if its just the mufflers not the ones with the tips. I have always been curious how they would make a V8 sound

Reminds me of a story....

In college I had a Swedish guy that lived next door..he loved American muscle and went out to find himself a muscle car..

He started with a late 70's El Camino, which he bought at night, you could put your hand through the frame, and it leaked exhaust gases into the cabin.

Then for round two he bought an 81' Camaro...Turquoise in color, with 20" painted wheels to match. We took the 20's off and put some nice 5 spoke chrome mags on there...thank god...anyway the darn thing would never run right, and we couldn't find anyone who knew how to time an engine.

Well the mufflers were always banging on the ground, so we looked under the car to see if the kid he bought it from put the mufflers on wrong...they were mounted in the middle of the car. He was told they were Super 44 Flowmasters....turns out they were the 80 series which was meant for the import tuner crowd...

I laughed my butt off.....sadly the swede knew nothing about cars, and on his way home for the summer he developed an oil leak on the highway, and decided to keep driving it...needless to say all the oil leaked out of the engine and the 400cid small block seized and cracked like a twig....last i heard from him the car as still sitting and he still had the spinners, and DVD player the previous kid had put in "custom".

Isn't it interesting the dumb things people do to cars???

It's probably going to sound fine. It's not going to magically make the car sound like a 4cyl. Those cars sound like that because that's just how a 4cyl will sound no matter what kind of exhaust you have, for the most part. It will probably look like crap though.

when you do it, take a video or a sound clip. I was actually wondering how it would sound also a while back and couldn't find any videos of this on Youtube.

Someone told me once that my muffler i had on my old GXP was "rice". I'm not sure how they came to that conclusion.

Here is the muffler - http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642/14867/10002/-1

and a video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDyRyCRFVGw

You should crawl under your car and mount the ricer mufflers yourself. And then the car should fall off the jacks and onto you your junk.

If you want to save money just remove the stock muffler and go off the resonator and straight pipes that's what a lot of the V6 guys do on Club GP
I wouldn't do it just my

what the hell is a 'ricer muffler'? Where you cut holes in the stock mufflers casing?

It’s when you go from 1.5” pipe to a 4” or bigger strait thru muffler.
