Default Drifting tires?

Hey everyone I'm new to the site. I wanted to ask you guys what you think of these tires

http://www.frsport.com/Federal-14EK8...9W_p_2184.html

They say they're for drifting. I need new tires bad and can't shell out much money for new ones at the time. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to having drift tires on my GXP? Thanks in advance!

Well no one else took it so I will....

Why would you put drifting tires on a FWD car????

Are looking for tires with good grip....or are you looking to try and drift....

They are not all season, actually they probably suck on anything but dry and most likely won't last that long... You get what you pay for probably applies here. My guess is you would be replacing these pretty quick. Sadly there is no info on the internet about them, which might be a sign, so you should probably avoid them.

If you go to the link above and search 255 45 18 you will find plenty of results:

I think they look pretty good. It says they are a hard compound so they should last longer than u might think.

I actually just ordered some of these last week.

There is another poster on here (deft) who got them a year ago and according to him they've been great. I researched a lot before I bought them. They're popular among the drifting crowd, yes, but many posters on a lot of different sites have claimed that they perform great in wet conditions. The treadwear is rated at 260 I believe, which is above the stock Bridgestones so it's not like they're going to burn up really quick--my Potenzas lasted 35K miles. I'm a very particular person when it comes to buying things and I've gotten every indication that they are quality tires and definitely the best bang for your buck so that's why I went with them. Of course, my verdict won't be out for them until I actually have them on the car and I intend to post my experience with them after having them for a while so don't take this as gospel.

I'm sure there are better options than drifting tires. I wouldn't get them myself that's for sure. Good luck though.

I actually like the idea of drift tires. They should be built to hold up to extreme heat which is a great thing.

I've decided to go ahead and give these tires a try since I've read only good things about them. I went with the SS595's. I should have them in a few days. I think a tire that's made to withstand the stresses of drifting will be even better for daily driving as most reviews I've seen have mentioned.

Panther, you might also want to wait until kl_237 and I review theses things. As kl mentioned earlier deft already has had these tires for a year and thinks they perform well.

Wow, $118 per is better than what I paid for mine from tiresavings.com. I paid $133 per. Oh well...

Mine arrived yesterday...shipped from NJ so it only took two days which was nice. Ordered on Tuesday, got them Thursday. Going on tomorrow!

Love the tread!

Nice! Looks like your going to beat me to the review. I'm also getting mine shipped from NJ but I live in TX so I probably paid more for shipping.
