Default Head

While I was running the nitrous the spark plug in the #7 cylinder broke and the part of the spark plug that broke went through my exhaust valve. It damaged the head pretty bad as well. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement head? I have tried a few places and no one seems to have it.

If they are using a dry shot thats the problem. On these motors only use a wet shot

You might want to research valve sizes if you're changing heads. The 243 heads on the LS4 have smaller valves than many of the LS1/2/6 heads out there. Probably has something to do with a 96mm bore instead of the 99mm LS1/6 bore.

I don't recall any threads that specifically discussed running heads with larger valves.

I wonder if it's something in the intake manifold causing cylinder 7 to go lean while spraying. Maybe the distribution of air in the runners is not getting enough to cyl 7

well there is the large obstruction in the opeing could be directing air away from number seven.

woudn't that cause a rich condition, too much fuel per given air/nitrous mix.

thanks for your help guys. I found a head and if all goes as planned the car should be running again by the end of this weekend. Yeah, I was running a wet shot. Do you guys think there is a chance that other cylinders were damaged and I could run into some issues down the road? I did a compression check on the other cylinders and everything looks fine, but I didn't take the other head off and take a look at the valves on the right head.

You might want to pull that other head and check it out just to be safe. Its a long weekend anyway tons of fun. Let us know whats going on with the nitrous I want to spray mine too.

As long as none of the other plugs are broken or melted, and the pistons that are currently visible look okay, then I wouldn't bother pulling the other head. Sounds like you've got enough to do already.
