Default 06 impala ss

been having an issue.. need some input, 5 times out of 10 when we get in the car to start it, it will crank and crank and crank then finally start.. whats the deal? sometimes fire right up.. just a click of the key. but mainly when i turn the key over an let go itl just sit and crank 5+ times.. any input?

Do the impalas have a volt meter? Do you have 12 or more volts when you go to crank? It's possibly some parasitic draw on the battery.

Or maybe the starter could be on it's way out. My friend's Camaro acted like that. Then it went from doing it half of the time to all of the time. Finally, it would not start. We replaced the starter and all was fine.

he pretty much nailed it. Either low voltage/amperage with the battery or starting beging to die. If u wanna get crazy it could be anything electrical controlling the starter. But Keep it simple stupid(KISS) start with the common stuff. Could also be an issue with key/tumbler/switch

The batteries are horrible in these cars. My 07 SS sits for a couple weeks at a time, and the stock battery is not up for it. I replaced mine with an optima red top.

oh really? damn ok.. well it keeps doin it.. but it fires right up.. battery doesnt seem down or anything. its still under warranty should i take it in?
