Default brake question

so i changed front pads and had the front rotors cut a month or so ago but the rears looked ok still.
1. do the rotors have to be cut if there is no visible groove where the pad contact area is vs where it does not contact it?
2. hard to see with the wheel on but the pads look like they have about a eigth inch to 1/4 in of material left on them what do you guys think?

You do not have to cut your rotors. You can just pad slap the car. Same break in rules as always though.

I think he means cut as in resurfacing or "turning" them. Its a way to smooth out the face of rotor when there is material left.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Be careful asking NAPA/Autozone/Pep Boys stores or the like to turn your rotors. Some guys there don't know what they are doing and can ruin your rotors pretty badly. Take them to any automotive machine shop, they will know what to do.

At least locally napa stores have the best personal. Usually guys who have been doing this for the whole lives not just teenager who doesnt know anything but what the computer tells him. And cut/turn is the same thing to me. U dont have to if they are in good shape and u wanna save a little cash and/or down time.
