Question Let's Talk Oil!!!

Getting ready to do my first oil change in my GXP. Thought I'd see what the masses were running as far as: What kind of oil and weight? How many quarts? What kind of filter? What climiate zone u live in? As well as any other interesting info.

first time running royal purple 5w30 i put 6 quarts but was told ours are 7 quarts? have an extra bottle just in case..
got a bosch filter with it.. im in cali, los angeles area pretty hot around here so theres those days were i feel like the car is just guzzling gas like crazy, but i guess its the heat messin with me lol
car runs smooth as hell though.. i suggest u do the motor mount flip while ur doing the oil change.. easy, well worth it.. and FREEEEEEE!
my cars still under warranty so i may go back to mobil1 for my next oil change.. hope thers no major differences..

i have an 06 impala ss 42k miles btw..

Oil: Mobil 1 5w30
Amount in: 6-6.5
Amount drained: not 6qts, thats for sure lol.
Climate: no lower than 30 during cold winter nights, as high as 110 during summer.

Hearing I should switch to RP or Amsoil though.

i use amsoil 5w-30 with a wix filter since they didnt have the amsoil filter in stock....i will be gettin my first oil change in about 2 months to see what it looks like. it has been in there for 8 months and they say it can go a year but with my car being new i would imagine there is a goin to be a decent amount of metal in it until it is all broken in.

Castrol Syntec Blend 6.5 Qts and a good ole AC Delco filter. I change it when the OLM tells me to.

I changed mine with Mobil1 5W30 and filter about 2,000 miles ago, and this morning when I started up for work, my low oil light came on. I checked and sure enough it was low. I poured 3 quarts Mobil1 5W30 in it. Anybody else have problems with theirs burning or leaking oil this fast. (It wouldn't be a GM V8 if it didn't burn a LITTLE oil, but it seems to me like something's wrong, cause it shouldn't be that fast.) I'm hoping it's something stupid like the filter's loose or something. I'll have to check it out when I get home.
