Doubt it will work since there is no starter mount on the LS4 block. Plus the LSX engines and the Vortec engines share little parts.

I don't think you meant this part, did you? LSX and Vortec are just different names for the same Gen III/Gen IV architecture. Most parts will interchange.

I'm not sure of the internals between the LS4 engine and the Vortec engine. I think and could be wrong but are completely different engines? I didn't think LS heads would fit on a Vortec engine?

Other than the crankshaft, the internals are interchangeable...though there are differences between DoD and non-Dod parts.

The heads will bolt to any Vortec, as they're simply the LS6 heads designed for the 2001-2004 Z06 Vette. While Vortec/LSX heads may interchange, the different chamber sizes may preclude their usage in some combinations, however, this is just like any older small block Chevy.

Glad I could help! I've been tinkering with Gen III (and Gen IV) motors since 2000 and have probably owned half-a-dozen vehicles powered them. There's a ton of info out there and it's easy to get overwhelmed.

I am convinced that these engines are God's gift to the performance enthusiasts!
