Car has about 45k light mods, driven normally
never autox never raced.

Trans was acting up tookj to dealership yesterday (thurs) (under warranty)
they found nothing at all wrong and claimed I may have been mistaken about it.
I insisted they check again, they assured me everything was fine.
On the way to the office today the car was having trouble finding any gear to stay in.
Finally just stopped moving , I pulled to side restarted and tried to go,
it was basically felt like I was just leaving the clutch in (if it was manual)

Does this mean I get a new trans?!!!!

Yes, it should exactly what happened to me twice. They shouldnt void it for the light mods.

No, it means, if your mods do not void the applicable portion of any warranty, you will likely get a rebuilt transmission.

Rebuilt or new
As long as it works!
I am so torqued they told me the car was fine yesterday.
I would have avoided being late and having to arrange a tow truck,
if they had just been honest and said yes we feel it slipping well take a look at it.
Maybe I shouldnt have let them know it was under warranty I've got a hunch
that if I had the car in for service work, they would have noticed it..
Magically if you say your under warranty problems don't happen when they test the car.

If the trans is completely fragged you should get a GM Goodwrench remanufactured transmission. That's a fancy way of saying rebuilt.

When I looked on consumer sites to see complaints from owners before I got my car (ie what people who don't customize/hot rod their cars complain about), I saw a ton of squeak and rattle stuff (and one knucklehead who said his engine overheated constantly and the dealer swapped engines 6 times lol) but I didn't see any complaints about the transmission. I didn't see the 40-50k trend until I joined grandprixforums and later found this subsection of LS1Tech, after which I decided to just have mine built before I started modding the engine (not necessary I know, but I got the rebuild on sale and I was able to schedule my down time). I put about 20k on my car a year, so it won't be too many years before I can give everyone some feedback on how my built transmission is holding up.

Pretty sure that's not what happened tomine after reading to paper work and it taking so long for ordering a new one, not only that I was told it was a new one, not that I believed that alone, I looked at the cost and notes, and they weren't one of a rebuilt one.

The Verdict is in.

GM warranty covers it.. A new (actually rebuilt) transmission was installed yesterday finishing up today.

If i get another 45k out of it I'll be happy.. I should be stepping into a G8 long before that.

P.s Dealer claims this is the 1st gxp they have had with tranny problems
and were certain it was just impalas that had been experiencing trans problems......
I guess all of us with a GXP and tranny problems must not know how to drive......
NOT
