Default Tranny Problems?

Hello all..New guy here...I've got an 01 monte, done about just as much as i can to it without spending big bucks, and its starting to get old..

I've recently come across a pretty good deal where I can get an 06 Monte Carlo SS for about 13k..

Problem is, it's got 45,xxx miles on it..From what I've been reading here, and a few other places...It should be ripe for tranny problems..

Anyways, what i'm wondering is, are the tranny problems really all that common? Is it mostly with upgraded cars, or is it just something that is just going to happen somewhere down the line? I don't plan on doing anything performance wisepast an intake and a catback...

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, listen to WilliamGT, if you can.

I don't know if the transmission issue will happen with every LS4-equipped Monte SS or Impala SS, but I do read about a LOT of people having problems with their transmissions.

Unfortunately, I got to join that club this week. The transmission on my '06 Impala SS went out on me. Thank God for extended warranties.

If purchasing from a dealership, ask if they can certify it used (certified used). This will provide the 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain coverage blanket.

Quoted for truth!

My 2006 Impala SS has the GM Certified Used 5 year/100k mile powertrain warranty. I paid $13k for the car last year with 30k miles.

If you like the car and the price get it. If you worried about fixing stuff get after market warranty.
