50PSI is likely the max for the tire, not the PSI recommended for the vehicle.

lol damn 50 psi thats a lot. i have 40 in mine just because the side wall is so small and the weight of the engine makes the tires go down and rub on the side wall.

i'd say so... I can just imagine how bad your traction is with your tires aired that high.. Open your divers door and their should be a sticker telling you to air your tires to 30 psi...

Did the mechanic also tell you that you need to rotate your tires? Or that there was no way your car has a V8?

"Mechanic" better stick to mechanical only, hope he's better versed in fixit than tire pressure information.

Embarassing, his ignorance.

No, on these cars you have to rotate just the air. Front air goes to opposite rear tires, rear air goes straight forward.
Another little-known fact from the Shell Answer Man!

ROFL! For real! The guys that put my exhaust on didn't believe it was a V8. When I insisted it was, they lowered the car on the lift so they could pop the hood...

Oh, I have even had the dealer try to get me to have the tires rotated. "The owners manual says not to..."

"Oh, really?"
