Default looking at buying a 08 GXP or 07 G6 GTP

hey guess looking for some input. I just sold my 00SS cam/bolt-ons/gears because my wife said I need something with 4 doors. I am just looking for a fun factor on my everyday drive and for bringing my kids somewhere if need be.

I have driven the G6 and it was fun with 6 spd tans auto and nice ride. The GXP will be in Monday for me to drive (carmax transfer) but they said it is in excelllent shape 45k.

I have been reading alot and it seems everyone likes the LS4 cars and they are pretty rare. Do they hold their value? Are they petty dependable (besides the trans)? And how does the GXP handle? As good as they say it does?

thanks for your input in advance.

I have been reading on this sight and it sounds like these are great cars not a lot of

They definitely do not hold they're value, new models were ~$35K, not they can be had for $14-18K. G6s don't either though, we bought an 06 new in Dec 05, for $16K, was $23K but discounts, GM points, and such got it down, got $6k for it a couple of months ago with 60K miles.

And yes they do handle as well as you've been reading.

The 07 GTP is the 3.9L isn't it?

Forgot to add, 99% of them are very dependable, there's a few bad seeds out there though, as with every car.

I remember seeing a guy at the track that pulled up to the staging lanes looking like he just got off work, popped the hood and appeared to change his pulley. I dont know much about pulleys and gtp's so i'm not sure, i didnt think it would be that easy, but he went on to run mid to high 13's. Didn't seem to have any crazy mods.

G6 GTP not Grand Prix GTP. The G6s weren't supercharged.

GXPs can hit 13s stock, just have to launch it just right. And if I remember correctly the GTP sedan is good for high 14s low 15s, trapping around 94.

Well today I go test drive it and see how I like it. It's red with ebony or ivory interior can't remember what the guy said. I will let you guys know if I purchase it. I plan on doing a small amount of mods. Cai, exhaust and a tune. Hopefully thats good enough to trap 100 and get into mid to high 13's. So I am sure I will have some questions.
Thanks for all the input

The V6 will have much better gas mileage if that's a concern. Like +5 to 10 probably.

^ Hardly, when my car was stock I was getting 29 mpg highway easy, my wife's 3.5L G6 was only getting 32 mpg, I know it adds up in the long run, but still. I don't think the GTP sedan gets much better than the GP GXP, to be honest. Edmunds has 17 mpg / 26 mpg / 21 mpg for the G6 GTP sedan and 16 mpg / 25 mpg / 19 mpg for the GP GXP.

Also, if you know how, you can run two tunes, one where DoD actives earlier/stays engaged longer and stock/no DoD.

GXPs can trap 100 stock with the right circumstances, well all LS4s can.
