Default Normal temp guage & fan turn-on?

I think I may be having a cooling problem with my SS. Recently, I've noticed that the temp guage goes right up to the half way mark rather quickly (less than 5 minutes of driving), even in 40-50 degree weather. I also noticed that the fans seem to turn on more frequently - like every time I pull in the garage and shut the car off, the fan is audibly spinning down from running...I don't recall that as being normal. I have the GM 3yr/36k mile warranty - should I just take it in and let them deal with it? I'm more curious if its normal - where do your temp guages sit during normal driving?...

These cars seem to warm up quick. Is it getting above half way on the gauge?

I don't know if it's the case with these cars but all f-bodies '99 and up, the temp gauge is kinda like idiot light and doesn't read true temp.

Ours takes about 5-7 minutes to get to halfway, then it just stays there...Whether it's 30 degrees out or 100 degrees in traffic.

Interesting thought though. I'll have to set my scan gauge to read coolant temp and see what it's really running.

Mine seems to get to the half way point within about 5 minutes, but it does not go past it - ever. The fan turn on thing seems not normal. Are your fans on during cool weather?
