Default More LS1/LS6 speciality part swap pics 5/29

So close guys. I just need to get my LS2/LS3 valley cover gasket kit. Should be here next Thursday! Hopefully next week I can get this sucker going!

Here are some pics.
Intake hole

Rear mainfold plug

Plug installed

LS2 valley tray. OPSU port cut down to .5" and pluged

LS6 fuel rail and Injectors

Injector adapters and MAP
ensor extension harness

Alt. bracket with rear hump removed

TB adapter

Map relocation plug

Hole to be pluged

Hole pluged

Need to drill a .441" hole into the center of the plug and mount the MAP sensor to it. I will use a bracket to hold the sensor ino the plug.

here is my plan
Stock tb
Tb adapter
LS6 injectors
Pig tail adapters EV1-EV6
Map extension harness
LS6 fuel rail
LS1 intake (sold other LS6 stuff for nitrous) will go F.A.S.T later
EGR plug
Custom rear vacuum plug with o ring
LS2 valley tray (OPSU milled and pipe plugged) going with a oil cooler and will relocate the sensor then)
Modified alt bracket with rear hump cut off and weight reduction mod. Stocker weighs 13lbs. New bracket weighs 9lbs.
Will section the exhaust crossover tube (stock tube would be fine)

Manifold, fuel rail, plugs and such will be painted GXP black.

Thurs is a long time away. Damn holiday.

Can't you reuse that gasket? Did you get the low profile valley cover bolts?

No idea if they are needed, but I have seen pan head allen type ones used on fast intake swaps for some clearance.

Stock bolts will be fine with the flat tray and stock intakes. The button head bolts would be nice though!

By the way, about how much is this costing you? Did you have all of the parts(throttle body addapter, etc.) custom made? If this was all in another thread, sorry, I've been pretty busy lately. Point me to the other thread if so. I want to do this badly and got some money to do it.

Could you get the stock throttle body ported? This sounds like a ton of work to keep that stock. Just a question, dont know much about these. Good luck with this mod.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. I would be more concerned with the stock LS4's small intake tubing. Yes, we have a 76-78mm (I measured 76mm) tb but the tubing is only 3-1/4" to 3-1/2" at the tb. Most LS motors have 4" ducting very... very... small!

I had that done on some of the TPI Camaros and Firebirds I had. No dyno or anything but every little bit helped on those cars, it seems the same on these. On those it was always cheaper to have them bored out then buy bigger but the aftermarket was decent to those cars. It might be worth some searching for you, good luck with this mod.

So is our MAF smaller than most LS's? Do you think you will need to go bigger to get the full benefit of the intake?

Bigger MAF will work, but only with a more free flowing intake, and tuning of course. The stock MAF is said to be good for 400hp, but I'm pretty skeptical do to its 3-1/4" size. 5.3 trucks have much larger MAF's and tubing, as well as the GTO's. LS1 F bodys and Vettes have a pretty good kink in there tubing do to the radiator supports but the MAF's are much bigger. Again, we have the smallest MAF's of all LS motors. Pathetic!

A little update to keep this alive. I had to work last Saturday, so hopefully this weekend. I did paint my fuel rail, and manifold Metallic black. Turned out bad ***! I'll post some pics in a few days after I install the injectors and rails. Gaskets are here and I'm ready to go.
Man... this camera sucks!

Also, once I get this thing going, I will try to get Ron to make some more adapters. He did this one as a favor, but casted it in case he wanted to make some more. When I ask him about it, he just grins lol. Hang in there guys.
