Default For those who HATE drone....

I found a great alternative to Dynamat or any other very expensive sound deadener. I used this today and it removed another 20 - 30% of the drone when the pedal is pressed and absolutely none while cruising.

It is sold at Home Depot and it is called "Quick Roof". It is made of buytl rubber and has an aluminum backing as well. It can be cut with scissors or a razor. With the backing on, test fit a piece and then pull the backing away and press it on. I purchased a little roller to do a better job. I have never done this before but it came out with the desired result. Two 25' rolls came to $33.00. The same lengths in Dynamat is about $100.00.

Here is a good video of it.

I installed it in the trunk floor, inside rear quarter panels, and inner trunk lid. I may do under the rear seat too like in the video. Each roll weighs about 5 - 6 lbs. I haven't gone through one whole roll yet either. Works great and I would highly reccommend it. It also makes my stereo sound better too. Weird...

i used another off brand sound insulation off ebay in my old car and it traps the sound in the trunk and pushes it forward.

heres the link. it might not be as cheap but its just as good as dynamat. i thought it made a big difference. stuck really good too.

I used Hush mat for my car and I get it at wholesale price because I know an owner to a local stereo shop. I paid $110 for a kit that did my entire trunk, underside, and back seat area. I had mad rattles in the trunk due to my system and rattles on the inside of the interior due to my exhaust. I now have neither and it only took me about 3 hours to do myself. My dad used a similar product in his Chevelle when he redid his interior. To my knowledge, he really likes it- no noise on the inside due to the monstrous engine/exhaust that is coming out of the open headers and the area where the 4 speed comes out of the floor is much, much cooler to the touch and you no longer have to worry about touching it with your leg.

I'll be doing this, this weekend also. Probably just the trunk and see how it goes from there. Anyone that does the passenger compartment, please post your opinion!

It works. And it is very inexpensive. 2 rolls will cover just about everything.

The only problem with quick roof is that it is asphalt based.

Not good stuff to inhale when it heats up.
