flipped motor mount?

flipped motor mount? i have heard like everyone say they flipped it. i just dont really understand why or how to do it? what does it help?

The stock one is a piece of rubber with two holes cut in it. If you rotate it 90 degrees the holes are in the other places causing it to be more firm. Should be able to search and find some pictures. Basically unbolt it, put the bolt/nut on without the dog bone bracket, spray the mount down with a lot of wd40, and wrench it around with two ratchets.

Any need to support the motor? From what I've read a lot of guys have had trouble getting the bolts in and out. The mount does support the weight of a couple hundred pound motor. A jack and a couple blocks of wood might make it easier?

No need to support the engine weight when working on the upper mount, It actually does not support the engine weight, (it connects at the top of engine and is horizontal) it controls engine movement (rocking). You may have to slightly rock engine back and forth to easily remove and replace bolts, but it should be fairly easy. Use plenty of spray lube and also carefully use a large flat blade screwdriver to wedge all around rubber to get lube between rubber and metal mount before trying to rotate it.
