Default 3800 V6 Explosion?

I know some of you have experience with the 3.8 V6's. My mom has a 00 Impala with the 3800; it had sat for a week or two in our drive way parked downhill. The battery was dead, so my dad tried jumping it. As soon as he turned the key to crank it he said there was a loud "explosion". I came home from work to check it out and it blew the engine cover in a few pieces, broke the oil filler neck clean off (a piece fell down into the valvetrain) and completely blew the intake manifold into pieces. Was there a TSB/recall we missed about some sort of fuel leak? Pretty crazy for it to do that.

dam that sucks. iirc there was a recall for the rear valve cover gasket leaking. but doubt that would cause an explosion. and since noone else has said it, we need pics! lol

the recall was on the front valve cover gasket. Not sure why your intake would explode haha, does your mom run nitrous?

There was/is a recall on the front valve cover gasket, and on some models, the valve cover bolt grommits, because of possible fires.
