Default Well, think I spoke to soon.. tranny acting up this morning... uugghhh!!

about half way to work, at light throttle, my tranny started slipping... shudders when shifting and was jerky/lunging...

but, if I get on it a little so it kicks down, or when starting from a stop and am on it a little so it's not light throttle, it acts fine....

uuugghhhh.... I can't afford this right now!!!!!! GGRRRRRR!!!!

If it is dying, it's far outlasted most, but it still sucks. Hope it's just a fluke.

When mine went, it slipped under any amount of throttle. I blame the TCM failure, which caused a transmission limp mode, and the trans flush.

When's the last time you changed the fluid?

did a fluid/filter change at about 55k-60k miles...

and as of this AM, I am at 100,120 miles...

I even checked the fluid the other day... level was still perfect, and fluid color was still good...

sorry bro, look at it as an opportunity to upgrade! Although, and completely off-topic; I was passed this morning on the highway by an absolutely beautiful Challenger (new style) with a black paintjob and gold side stripes. I don't care for black cars in general, show too much dirt for my tastes, but this thing would have me using a dead tranny as an excuse to go buy a new Hemi car. Just throwin' it out there...

Aww Man...That sucks. Sounds like you probably have TCC material circulation through the trans. When mine went the first time, the fluid still looked good, but I had material in the pan.

Maybe Dave @ TEP will cut you a deal, vendor to vendor!

GM knew what they were doing, and there's no way they'll make 80k new designed transes for a dead engine, that has no support, we're on our own. How was the trans in the Bonne GXP?

The Bonne GXP has a 4T80-E, which is completely different from our 4T65-HD. To my knowledge, there are no widespread problems with the 4T80, as it was designed for, and used only with the Northstar V8s.

And before you ask, no, it won't fit in our cars.

I know it won't, and I knew all the NorthStar stuff. I was just thinking maybe I should've found one of them instead... The interior was dated, though.

I saw one the other day when I changed the oil in our VUE!

Supposedly, it can handle 280 lb-ft, which is about the same as the capacity of our 4T65's.

I think someone here had posted a thread about having solved the trans-mounted starter problem, but I'm not sure about what else is needed to make this a reality.

Anyway, even if we could swap the 6T75, I imagine that it would still need to be "beefed up", but I'm not sure if there are any upgrade parts available.

hehe, not enough where I could afford it anyway... don't have ANY spare money to use anywhere... dunno WHAT the hell I'm gonna do...

but yeah, it only does it when driving slow/cruising and at light throttle...

if I get on it - whether from a full stop or I kick it down while driving - it still tears ***, goes strong, and shifts fine...

well at least now you have a good reason to be overly aggressive with the accelerator pedal.

I thought the 6T75 was made to handle around 300?

Well Lew...didn`t you try the Dod out lately, Everytime I switch it on for a long haul and after I reinstall my TUNE it plays with me for about a week sometimes even giving the 700 series code when cold and driving like I do full throttle within minuites of starting. Settles in though!

Well, GM says the 6T75 is good for 315 HP/280 lb-ft of torque. So it's close, but then so is our current tranny.

And that is the thread on the 6-speed conversion, however, I didn't realize it was only a 6T45. I don't think you'd want to put a trans designed for a 160 HP Ecotec 4-cylinder behind an LS4 unless you built the hell out of it, assuming the parts exist to do so.
