Question Wonky heating & cooling

So,

Here's a strange issue. My heating and cooling controls have gone nuts. The bezel ring that chooses the vent/defroster/feet is not corresponding with what the icon says. Example: when set to defroster - all the way clockwise - the bottom/foot vent gives out air and nothing comes out of the windshield vent. When moved to another setting such as foot vent, the defroster may come on and nothing out of the foot vent. Sometimes it just makes the blowing noise and nothing comes out anywhere.

None of the settings will send air out of the dashboard vents, though it sounds like it's trying...the fan seems to be going, but it doesn't sound as loud as it used to - yes, the vents are open.

Has anyone ever had something like this happen. I'm probably going to live with it since it still heats and cools, and I don't feel like taking it to the dealer for inve$tigation. Does this sound like something simple: A fuse or something loose? Is there a blower motor that is off?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Default Hmmm...

Sounds reasonable. Not to sound clueless, but where is the control unit located?

Thanks.

Default swing and a miss...duh.

...or do you mean the whole unit located in the dash, ***** and all?

If that is the case, I probably can find it
