A nice custom tune and a cold air intake will wake that car up !
We tuned a couple of these with 15 to 20hp at the wheels.

We have an LS4 specific forum on here where you may get more answers. Hopefully a mod will move it.

This.

They benefit from SIGNIFICANT gains in tuning alone.

There are more mods availible in the last year than ever before. It really depends on how much $ you are willing to spend. I have a K&N intake, exhaust, shift kit, tranny cooler, strut tower braces, and custom tune. All of that together ran me about $1400 (not all at once). The car drives ten time better than from the factory with those mods. I have called it a day on doing anything more to my GXP since I do not think the w-body platform is worth trying to make into a 11 second car. I am saving for a CTS-V coupe.

There are now headers, cam swaps, head swaps, intake swaps, and of course turbo kits being done. I cannot comment on those but hopefully someone else will.

Without breaking the bank, to an intake, ported intake manifold, downpipe ,and a diablosport predator with a custom Lew tune. Or if you have a few extra pennies, subtract ported intake manifold and do a LS1/2 intake manifold swap and Doug Thorley headers.

Don't forget to love the trans, a shift kit and cooler would be very beneficial to the life of the trans.
