Default DOD When Motor is Cold

OK, I've been paying close attention to this: Since it has gotten cold out, if I start the car and start driving after only a minute or two, my DOD acts unusual. What is happening is, when I accelerate very lightly, at around 25mph, I go into 4cyl mode for a split second, get the helicoper sound and lurch forward a bit. It then goes back to 8cyl mode and then does it two more times as I increase speed. If I accerate just enough to keep it in 8cyl mode it acts perfectly. It only does this once and only when the motor is cold. I'm not really worried this is something major, I'm still getting used to a DOD motor. I wish I could only allow DOD in 4th gear on the cheap. That would be the only thing I would change. Any thoughts other than disabling DOD completly?

First off.. the DoD is !NOT supposed to activate until many parameters are met!
One really important one is the engine must be at operating temperature and in closed loop.
You are drivine an Impala so we have the ability to just put the gear selector in 3 (drive)
and the DOD is disabled... it cannot activate.

Do you have a diablo scanner/tuner? or some means of data logging...

morning LEW!

Sounds like it's coming on while the entine/tranny are still warming up.

Factory settings keep DOD disabled for the first 60 seconds of engine run time and while the coolant temp is under 104*F. Might be worthwhile bumping one, or both of those.

I have disabled DOD in third gear, so engine warms up completely before I hit a road with a speed limit high enough to hit fourth gear.

I do not have any means of tuning or data logging. My temp gage is at 1/8. Normal operating temperature is exactly 1/2.

I think I'll just accerate faster than a 20 second 0-60 in the morning so it doesn't occur.

Whaaa... I love Buffalo, there is currently only 4 inches of show on my grass. This 1 - 2 inches at a time is a waste of my time. I enjoy a good 12 inches... easier to snowblow.

Nice, I set myself up there and didn't even notice it lol. Just FYI because I am new... I am married to a woman and I have a son... with no intentions of ending up on Operah to tell my wife any secrets.

I love the clanky clank in the morning... Just go stand behind the car and listen to the rumbly exhaust until the car warms up. :-)

I've been trying different things in the morning... one of them has been to not put my heated seat on high after I first start the car. Three days in a row I've done this and each time this condition has not occurred. Tomorrow I'll turn the seat on right away and see if happens again.

it's not suppose to enable unless your engine is above 104 degrees. Your heated seats have nothing to do with it unless your car is retarded or something.
