I had this cam in a heavily modded, 6-speed LS1 Camaro. It made a ton of power, especially after being tuned.

Personally, I wouldn't run this in an automatic without a big converter, as it really moves the power upstairs. In fact, as I recall, even after getting tuned, it wouldn't idle much below 1000 RPMs.

I think this cam is a horrible match for our cars, considering our intake and exhaust restrictions.

Hot Cams are generally considered baby cams, even in the 5.3 world. I would suggest an LS1/6 intake, headers and full exhaust if you're going to cam it and spend the extra dime for a custom grind from Comp or a good shop.

I imagine you got the Precision Industries TC, just wondering what yours is stalled at for that cam?

Yes it is a Precision TC that was purchased when TEP rebuit my transmission. I believe the stall is 2800, but I would have to check my paper work to be sure. VHP recommanded a range of 2800-3200 and as you know TC numbers can vary greatly. One thing I do know is that the trans. temp went up after the build.

Comparitively speaking, it's a small cam, but the LSA of 112 makes it a bit rough with an automatic and stock stall. Sure, there are bigger cams, and I would recommend one with a wider LSA for streetability.

For the record, when I got this cam back in 2001, there wasn't much else available. Comp Cams and a few other companies like the now-defunct Morgan Motorsports had cams, too, but most were paired with Comp Cams 918 springs, which had reliability problems. I stayed with the smaller GM cam and LS6 springs because I didn't want to tear it down again. In the end, with theHot Cam, ported heads, LT headers, and a tune, my SS put down 406 HP to the rear wheels on a Dynojet.

Not bad for a "baby cam".

I think you're very confused about converters.
