Default Tire Pressure Monitors

Anyone here have aftermarket rims? Any issues reusing the original tire pressure monitor sensors over or did you have to buy new?

u can reuse them but depending on the style of sensor you may have to buy a new stem or rim band. i dunno what style of sensor you have. post a pic.

They're reusable and should last ten (10) years (battery life).

As long as whomever removes them doesn't break or damage them, they will work fine.

There are different styles, but here is one style and how to remove/reuse them:

EDIT: Make sure you remember what sensor goes where. If you move the sensor to a different tire location, they will all need to be relearned.

Search this forum for the relearning procedure (I posted it not too long ago).

When I put the aftermarket wheels on my car, I reused the ones that came with the car. One of them did break from removal so I had to go to the stealer to get a replacement since it was the weekend. Be careful when removing them.

Since you are reusing the factory sensors, pick up the TPMS servicing kits from Napa which are a few bucks a piece. Its cheap insurance down the road in case one of the seals has a leak.

Bought new ones because I didn't want the hassle of taking out the ones out the stock wheels.

The GM part number for the grommets is 25754190 for the metal stem style. 15263240 is the replacement stem section for the sensors that have the rubber stems.

I have new ones in mine and they don't respond for either set of wheels. Yay me!

10yrs?????? I've never heard that! Most I've heard is 4-5 if your lucky. I had 1 die about 6 months ago and now I have another thats starting to act up.

OP- I re-used the factory ones when I switched to my ASA AR1's.

GM should have used the motion of the tire rotating / starting / stopping to add charge to the battery in the monitor, then it could last the life of the car.
