Default Transmission chain

Can somebody tell me if a 2006 monte carlo ss 5.3L with the 4t65e transmission has a 7/8" Drive chain? I am thinking of getting my transmission rebuilt buy ZZ Performance but want to know what type of drive chain I currently have.

There is a 15/16th floating around somewhere.
Browse ebay and see if you can nail down a 1 inch.
Other wise plan on inspecting that chain once a year.

ZZ Performance. TEP is to far away from where I live. ZZ Performance is about 45 minutes away. I would to have the tranny rebuild, pulled and put back in, and tuned, as I do not have the knowledge to do it my self. I would love to go with Dave as he is a great guy and really knows his stuff but the drive would be a real pain for me.

I guess your assumption is that we all live by TEP and/or we all have plans on driving up there when the time comes.

*sigh*

Well, if you want to take shortcuts because you're worried about distances, then the more power to you, lol.

Why even chance it?

^^ Has ZZP done a lot of bad work? We all know TEP is the preferred builder for these trannies - but he isn't the only capable person in the world to build one. Unless there's a bad rep for ZZP on the GP forums that I'm unaware of, I'm happy that he's going to a place that also specializes in WBodies and not the local AAMCO, ya know?

Aye, but why even chance it with something as critical as a transmission?

Never mind that. Why even chance it with this transmission?

Understood completely. If I still had the Impala, I'd be allover TEP when the trans went out. But if I wasn't able to do it myself, I'd consider local options. If I were the OP, I'd have someone local install a TEP trans. Game over. Luckily for me, when the TBSS trans fails, the best builder is only 2 1/2 hours from me.

Exactly. Either find a buddy (or someone in your regional section on LS1TECH) to help you get the [TEP] transmission in or get a shop to install it.

But if your 4L70E goes, at least you have the 6L80E as an option now!

True, but isn't this still in development? It really is not a direct bolt on part? right? I remember reading the thread, but I thought it was not all ironed out yet.

A 6L80E is a six speed RWD transmission that is used in the Camaro, G8 etc...

They were talking about the TBSS trans.
