Shortening it would require me basically redesigning it. It 2 faces are set at a length and you make a lofted surface between them. So to shorten it I'd have to reset the length and remake the lofted surface. Plus its just OD that got bigger, ID s5ayed the same and flanges got larger radius at mating surfaces to help with load if there is much present. I could do an FEA analysis to see where the issues are but didn't think the weight of the TB and CAI was enough to worry about.

Noob question warning, I'm in the step of the swap with the drilling for the hose fillings. Could someone go more in depth with the placement of the hose couplers and if I use a ls4 throttle body do I still have to drill a hole in it or is it just for the specially designed tb adapter

Getting ready for the ls2 swap now I bought it already port matched and tb inlet already ported. I took it further by knocking out all the posts inside. In this configuration it will be the same as or slightly better than a ls6 just with a 90mm tb.

Also for what its worth anybody whose installed these, should be aware of the 3 piece sonic welded design and vacum leaks with alot of GM intakes on gen 4 engines. i took care of the outer casing by plastic welding the whole outer case to lower case area to prevent this from happening, along with hand painting to help keep it airtight.

Are you using DoD/AFM? If so, you don't have to shave the bottom of the intake with the G8 VLOM.

I've had the LS2 intake, LS2 throttle body, G8 VLOM, and LS3 injectors sitting around for a few months now. Just need to find some time.

Nah Im switching over to the denali 6.2 non dod valley cover. Its completely flat and seals off each oil passage. And at the price
of 43bucks, you can't beat that.

I got the G8 VLOM ~$30.

When you modified (welded) your stock VLOM, did you have to remove all of the rubber stuff on the underside? If so, how did you go about removing it?

The solenoid tray has like 10 or 11 torx head bolts. Remove them and take the solenoids out then remove the solenoid retainer plate and the gasket will come off. Pay careful attention as you disassemble the tray.

Thanks, it'll be hard to get some dyno time soon. Unti then its all various numbers in HP tuners to see airflow. I'll make sure I post about it though

Good to know everything works with the ls4 fuel rail. Got the spacers in and everything fits wonderful. My only concern is the entry of the spacer, its centered and the ls4 rail comes in at a offset angle so I will drill out the inlet to mimic the factory fuel injector inlet. to make sure there will be no issues. using a step drill is ideal for this but you could always use a drill bit.

Using a spacer for the rails isnt neccesary however if you wanted you will need a approximatley 12mm spacer.

91 - what spacers did you use? I got some FAST adapters but they didn't fit...

Yea I ordered the fast ones to however they fit on the bottom of the injector which is retarded. So I looked on ebay . I'll post the link when I get home.

fieroguru already laid out what injector spacers and fuel rail spacers are "needed."

I'd get them versus having those bolts sitting like that and having the fuel rail floating like that. They're very cheap too.

Theres more ways to achieve the same thing. Think about something why would my rails be floating around the bolts hold the rail down on the injector spacers and fuel injectors. There's compressed like they need to be in the intake manifold. There's nothing floating around. And if you read thoroughly through my previous post you'd see where I mention spacers and the size if you need them.I'm smart enough to know that my fuel rails shouldn't float. Try for youreself.

I'm just pointing out that fieroguru already explained what would be needed.

It also makes good practice to have spacers so as to not over torque those bolts. Without the spacers, the rail "floats" due to the tension of the rail.

Yea but theres a multitude of spacers to choose from on ebay, i just posted the correct ones used after making the mistake of ordering the p.o.s F.A.S.T ones. as for the spacers yea, thats why i mentioned them in my post. The FAST ones go on the bottom of the injector. Not even sure why they sell ones like that. and as for the proper ones i still think there is work to be done on those which is why i made the note to bore out the openings to match the fuel injector openings. There are also other issues i posted about in previous pages..

Awesome, I just bought that same valley cover the other day for my ported LS2 swap. Also paid $42-43 shipped for it. Cut off the OPSU bung, tapped the hole, and plugged it with a 3/8 NPT plug.

I'm going to be feeding my OPSU with a 4AN line from the little oil bypass cover on the oil pan by the filter. Just need to pull that and drill/tap it.

Going to use the stock LS4 fuel rails and injectors with the FAST injector spacers. They look to be exactly the right height.

I'm too cheap to pick up an LS2 TB for now though so I picked up some 5/8" aluminum to make an adapter out of.. I just need to find the time to do it and then swap everything on.
