Well, you would need an entire donor car. Engine, trans, rear end, suspension, ECU, wiring harness, ect.
I would not even entertain the idea since the cost of parts and intense fabrication (w-body cars have no trans tunnel, gas tank is in the way, not to mention installing the rear end into a car that was never designed for it) would far exceed the cost of a used rear wheel drive car (F-body, GTO).
Then you would have to deal with any reliability issues that arise from having a one off car.
Just sell the monte and get into something RWD.
And to answer your question it has been done to a 98-03 GP. I am sure there are youtube videos for it.

Be easier to drop another FWD combo in the rear and make a 600HP 4WD. I've actually considered this for my IMP. It would definitely turn heads, I expect crappy gas mileage though.

Yeah I have seen a video of it done too. If you are a someone that can fabricate then you could do it. I think if you where gonna do it try a CTS4. I don't know if thats possible but would be cool. But like its been said wouldn't be worth it financially. Of course just about everything cars is that way. The turbo guys put an easy 10k into a car that is still worth what it is, if not less.

How about you pick up a totaled Equinox AWD and convert you car to AWD? Ok its past my bed time I’m getting goofy now.
But then again easer and cheaper to just buy an AWD Trailblazer.

except that it weighs a million pounds more and doesnt look like a car. its not all that pricey. if you can find a drivetrain. when i talked to him about doing my car. he quoted me around 8g with me providing my own drivetrain. which i know seems like alot, but you can make some of it up selling all the ls4 stuff. the g8 is nice, but not everyone wants the extra set of doors.
