I drove a thousand highway miles after changing oil and checked dip stick it was a1/2 qt. low. So I checked oil catch can and drained it boy was I was surprised that it had that much in it.

i know this is a noob question, but what is the purpose of this oil catch can? never heard of one before in the s/c 3800 community.

LS4s burn oil and some of it gets sucked into the intake. The catch can keeps it from getting into the intake through the PCV? hose.

I am not good at explaining it but I basically understand it. I have a cheap one and it always has stuff in it.
