Default Clean Engine Bay

What and or how are you guys using to clean your engine bays & make them look so pristine? I am scared to death to hose it down because of all the electronics. So can anyone give up some secrets?.....Thanks in advance.

i promise you it will be fine housing it down. jeeps and just about all cars can go completely under water if they have a snorkel lol. simple green is good, and armor-all for plastic is great for all the plastic parts. and just about any degreaser is great as well

I use Adams all purpose cleaner and dress it with Adams in and out spray and svrt....you don't wanna use a lot of pressure when u hose it off and don't soak the **** out of it and you will be fine....I would cover open cone intakes as well....if u look at my detailing thread on here you can see some nice before and afters

i use a Hotsy pressure washer on engines at my shop. just soak the engine in degreaser and rinse. it is pretty hard to mess modern cars up. try not to soak coils ecu all that stuff

don't use simple green... it will screw up/eat at your paint if you get it on it...

simple green sucks. it is pretty mild tho. you just gotta make sure your car is wet so it doesnt stain or anything

At the detailing shop I worked at we used a degreaser, then power washed it off, then used an air house to dry, and drenched it in silicon.

Results like this

But its been awhile so its gotten a little dusty

Wouldn't pressure wash it. That can force water into areas just hosing it off wouldn't get to. I've seen MAFs full of agua.

Pressure wash is the way to get it off unless you want to use a towel on the whole engine, and still have dirty spots.

Besides the open cone filter, are there any components that should be covered before washing?

Their is still dirt residue on the engines, camaro has it towards the back for one, then they still have crap build up on the grand prix washer fluid container that comes off pretty easily.

But it does look really good, how do you do it?

Try 2 use pressure washer instead of a water hose....less water flowing with a pressure washer, I'm sure nothing will happen but just w be on the safe side..all I use is purple degreaser then just any foam tire wet stuff!! Had this motor like this for 3 weeks n I live n dirt roads ..
