Default Went to track again.

We went to the track again this weekend, after a long and very tough week. My grandpa was rushed to the hospital sunday when we were still at Norwalk, and we ended up losing him Wednesday night. It's very hard, as the completely family was so close. We were debating going to our scheduled even yesterday, but we ended up going in honor of him. What a night it was. I made my personal best pass: 13.748 @ 101.26 with a 2.036 60', and my dad won the event he raced in, for his first win in almost 25 years of drag racing. He was in an indexed class of 10.50, so basically, you couldn't run faster than that, if you did, you lost. If both cars did, the closest to 10.50 won. He qualified 10th out a field of 16, and the 1st round, he won with a 10.44 vs. his buddy with a 10.42. Second round, he won with a 10.56 vs. another guys 10.8X pass. He got into the semi-finals, and won that with a 10.5064. We didn't think it could get any closer to 10.50 than that. So finals rolled around, and he won with a 10.5005. That's literally 6-tenthousanths away from going to fast and losing. He uses nitrous in his lower RPM range, so he has the guy beat around 1000', then he has to let off to let the guy catch him, so he doesn't go to fast. His normal 1/4 mile MPH is right around 125, and this winning pass, it was at 116. Its amazing to know that even luck wouldn't be able to get you that close. I am 100% confident, as is my dad, that my grandpa was racing with him tonight, it was something he loved to do in his younger years, and it is something we will continue to do with him watching over us.

That's a touching story. What were your 1/8th mile and trap? i'm curious to see how they compared to you prior runs.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Centex, compared to my 1/8th mile runs, my runs this weekend were actually .1 off at the 1/8th mile, even with a .02 better 60', and the mph was off .1. So ya, kind of weird, lol. This track is supposed to be a tenth off vs. Norwalk though. So ya, I should be in the 13.60's range there. But oh well, we are done for the season now I think. I might invest in some DR's over winter.
