You're right, the antenna's pigtail is way too short. What I have done is simple: unscrewed it from the metal plate it comes with, then with a small 3M double side tape, I placed it right behind the DIC. There is a spot over there that is the perfect size for the antenna. I don't have any problems at all and the signal is great.
Hope this helps.

Per your image above, the one of the left is X3:

The next one is X1:

The next one after that is X2:

The last two are for the GPS antenna (top) and OnStar (bottom).

Here's the rear of the 2011-2013 Corvette NAV radio. Everything is the same expect for the addition of the USB plug:

Here's a good thread for GPS antenna pictures, etc.: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/audi...uipped-c6.html

GXP25, great information thank you. More questions about X3.

X3 seems to be connecting the cellular microphone. Is that the same as the mic used for onstar? Where does the wires go to (from the radio)? What function will I lose if I don't hook up X3

Again thanks for the info.

Yes, it's the microphone located underneath the OnStar mirror.

You'll lose the ability to use the voice command/control feature of the NAV. I think that's about it.

I'll look up where they go later.

Thank you, I would like to have all of the function work if possible. Maybe there is a jumper cable/harness I could buy.

Solved the short wire lead from the GPS antenna.

I cut the 12” wire lead from the GPS antenna in the middle (appox 6”) The wire is a single lead, shielded braided wire.

Picked up a 24” piece of aircraft quality 18 gauge shielded wire.

Spliced the 24” wire into the middle of the wire lead.

Now I have a 36” wire lead from the GPS antenna like I should have and I can mount the GPS antenna in the factory location.

You will need special tools and splice parts to carry the braided shield path through the 24” patch wire.

the problem might be where you mounted the GPS antenna. The factory location would be better but I know your wire lead from the GPS antenna was way short like mine.

Exactly, it is the short version but the funny thing is that I had a Corvette unit before, and it worked right off the bat. Now, I installed a Pontiac unit and ...red slashed GPS.!!!!

Why did it works with a Corvette unit but not with a Pontiac unit!? Weird

Here is a picture of the location of the antenna. It works perfectly with a Corvette GPS unit but it shows a red slash over the GPS on a Pontiac GPS unit.
Weird

I know about that location but remember, the antenna pigtail (new version), is very short as you can see it in my picture above.
If you know where to get the original length antenna, please let me know.
This is the only model I can get:
ACDelco 15821030 Antenna Assembly

I got it on Amazon by the way.

That's the part number of the GPS antenna I purchased too but I added 24" of shielded wire in the center of the wire lead so my total wire length is 36". The modified GPS antenna can be mounted in the factory location and pluged into the back of the navigation unit.

Is it hard to install it in the factory location?
I looked but didn't see a way to install it normally due to the tight space. Am I missing something here? Do I have to remove a part of the dashboard?
Thank you.

Remove the passenger side post trim, Lift the trim forward of the dash (between the dash and bottom of the window) upward starting from the passenger side. You don't need to remove the trim, just lift it high enough to drop the GSP antenna and lead into it's factory location. Routing the wire is a little tricky but no big deal. The GPS antenna is held down by (3) 20699808 retainers (push in style plastic clips). It was a 20 minute job for me.

I've attached a picture of the finished GPS antenna with a 36" lead.

I'll look into that. First I'll have the wire extended properly.
Thanks for the help.

I forgot to ask you: Do you have a clear GPS signal now? Was the slash bar gone right after the installation of the antenna in the original place?
Thanks

I haven't installed the nav unit, I'm trying to figure out the X3 plug first and get everything setup prior to installation.

Does anyone know where the wires go to (IE harness or hardware) from X3 on the radio?

I'll put this in order of radio connector X3 to destination.

FYI: Pin #3 and pin #5 on radio connector X3 seem to branch out in a Y fashion for two different circuits.

Pin #3 (circuit 655) goes to the inside rear view mirror connector pin #10 and the VCIM (Vehicle Communication Interface Module - think OnStar box; located under/behind the radio held by 3 bolts) connector X2 pin #9.

Pin #3 (circuit 5149), the other part of the Y, goes to VCIM connector X3 pin #2

Pin #5 (circuit 1705), which is a bare wire, goes to the inside rear view mirror connector pin #2 and VCIM connector X2 pin #10. Remember that this is a bare wire (exposed) used for shielded ground.

Pin #5 (circuit 5152) goes to VCIM connector X3 pin #4.

VCIM connector X2 is a 12-way connector:

VCIM connector X3 is a 16-way connector:

The inside rear view mirror connector is a 16-way as well:

For pin location purposes, remember that these are front views of the connectors and not their rear views.
