rear strut mount w/ or w/o soft ride
well sounds like the gxp has a bad right rear upper strut mount. i was looking tat the gm parts page and they have two options, with or with out soft ride. anyone know anything about this option and how i would know if i have it thanks. http://gmpartsdepartment.com/parts/2...=Strut%20mount

Before you purchase the part I would take an hour of your time and test the affected side. Jack the car up and pull the rim off, reach up and grab the strut and try to move it up and down and side to side to see if there's play in the bearing. If not that may not be your issue. It could be the strut starting to go.

I actually know the answer to this one. After chasing the same thing for a couple of years and taking the suspension apart--The bilstein strut seals stick and the noise comes through like a thump. A shot of WD-40 up inside the strut boot will quiet it down for a while. Graphite based chain lubricant works better.
