Got the "Engine Hot No A C" message tonight. Temp gauge doesn't move, stuck on cold. I get heat if I turn it on. Judging by what I've been reading it's probably the temp sensor? I'm a little apprehensive because I've read where people say it was a temporary fix, but ultimately changing the thermostat fixed the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. About to hit 100k miles and this car is pissing me off. Just spent a ton of money getting a stuck lifter fixed (they did them all). Also recently had the water pump replaced.

Could be the T-stat stuck open or possibly the sensor.

Both are cheap.

Do both? Start with one? Is one easier than the other to do? I've found multiple write ups on changing the thermostat, nothing on the temp sensor.

Yup...Sensor first, and if that doesn't solve it, I'd look at the T-stat.

yep, sensor first. cause it's most likely the issue. and if you do it when it's cold, and your fast enough, you won't lose much fluid.....

ive got a question for you guys since

ive got my car back from the shop ive notice that my temp goes a lil above 220(i believe) but not much higher ive checked the coolant level and its ok im wondering if i have to changed the thermostat yet or what

Be prepared to catch some coolant if you pull the sensor out first. Wrap the threads in teflon tape before you screw it back in
