Default PS Pump Still Whining after replacement??

Had a whine on the front of the motor. With the use of a screwdriver to listen to the power steering pump and the alternator, I narrowed it down to the power steering pump. I replaced it with a new AC Delco pump and the damn thing still whines.

Any Ideas? I bled the system according to GM's procedure. It operates fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Some people on here say theirs do that because of a recall on the Power Steering pump lines. I hope this helps!

Would the line be sucking air in then? I can't imagine a leak causing the ungodly whine this thing has.

I had the recall done 2 years ago, but i'll take a look at the line.

I would assume that air is getting into your lines from somewhere. That would be a good way to find out, if not put soapy water on your lines and have somebody else turn the wheel, maybe youll find your problem.

It was definitely brand new, correct? Not a reman'd? I went through a similar situation. My pump was whining like crazy, I then installed 2 different reman'd pumps and they both whined out of the box even after bleeding the system perfectly. BTW our power steering lines don't take much to bleed them out. I then bought a brand new pump and voila! No more whine.

My guess is it's a bad pump OR like others have said, maybe it's a leak somewhere
