Ported Intake
Would porting a LS4 intake make a big difference on a all stock LS4, should i stick with porting my intake now or just upgrade to a LS1/2/6, if i upgrade i understand that i need to use LS6 rails correct?

Nobody to date has data on bench flow numbers of the ls4 intake vs ported....Mel as on gmls4 had his done recently so maybe he could hook u up with some type of data....but for the 300 he paid to have it ported you could have a ls6 and another 20-60 for a vlom tray and you could easily be where u need to be.

There's no worthwhile benefit at that price. The restriction is the neck and that can't be changed enough by porting. An ls1/6 mani swap doubles the opening. That's where the full rpm spectrum power is gained. Please don't wast your money.

Sounds great, i was thinking of using a FAST intake LS6/1 which ever i could get cheaper, but if that doesn't happen i was thinking just get an LS6 intake, should i port this or keep it oem, i sure the gains will be enough to wake my car up lol......other then that do i have to use LS6 rails, and injectors (because there are the closest to LS4 ratings, and one last question lol can i use what TB i want.......just get the car tuned of course
Thanks

Porting a LS6 intake doesn't gain you much. You can use the LS4 rail and injectors but you will have to cut into the top of your manifold if you go that route. It's much easier if you just use the LS6 rails and injectors. Lastly you need to get Brian's TB adapter so you can use your stock TB on the new intake manifold.

Op kind of a silly question, but have you read thru this thread? https://ls1tech.com/forums/ls4-perfo...ap-sticky.html
I don't think so.
As far as I know a 90 mm TB off an '09 truck will work with a repin. I don't know of anyone who has actually done it, but the testing I did with the one I have says it'll work. Rockauto has that TB for $83. If you can get an LS2 intake for cheap the 90mm truck will bolt right to it.

If its free its great if it cost more than 100 bucks its a total waste. Not worth the minimal gains. An ls1 swap picks up 10-15 hp and Thats with doubling the intake opening. You cant tell me shaving 1/16 of material and still keeping the small neck opening gains anything over 5 hp...and I believe thats stretching it. To me it would be like flaring.the ends of an exhaust system and saying it improves flow. There's still a major restriction. Go with an ls1 manifold swap. It can be done fairly cheap. And it gives you a nice bump from idle to redline not just peak hp. It's the best mod I have by far.

Hopefully the trans and shortblock stay together at 10 psi for atleast 1 season.
