Default Went to the track today...

Took my car out for the first time this year and sadly it was super disappointing.
Last year I ran a 13.9 and a consistent 14.0 14.1. Since then I got a new transmission built with 3.29 gears and a tune. My best time today was a 14.2 with a 2.2 60'. I was hooking pretty well a couple of times I roasted the tires off the line and gave up from there haha. But I seen other cars with my same set up run 13.5's consistently, so is there anyway to get my car in that time range? I am just confused why I stayed the same and even lost time going from 2.93's to 3.29's and a tune. any suggestions?

I have a poly mount in the front of the engine, I replaced both the lower mounts when I got the transmission done. The drivers side front has a poly mount and the right one had no aftermarket replacement so I just got a new one

Yeah that's def a low trap. That's what these cars typically trap stock.

Was the car tuned for the 3.29 gears. Or was the shift points raised at all?

You need stickier tires since it has more torque off the line with the lower gears.

This would only help his 60', but his trap speeds are equal to a stock one. The issue should be elsewhere.

If the car is faster off the line it will reach a higher top speed before the finish line.

It should only reach the finish line faster (faster ET). It should not have a higher trap speed.

That's not correct. If the car is capable of going faster than the current trap speed it will increase as the ET decreases.

According to what you're saying a 10 second car will also trap at 100 mph and we all know that's not the true.

Stickier tires will not always mean higher traps. If 1st and 2nd are completely useless and you sit there spinning through them all, then sure, but typically, a little spin off the line results in a higher trap yet a slower ET.

If the 60 ft time is decreased the trap speed will increase. This is all common sense, obviously you guys don't have any....

You are wrong. Please go research elsewhere, or I could post the 100 threads that argue this same thing with the majority favoring the statement from Duron. Stickier tires will decrease your ET, however, passes with slight wheel spin tend to trap higher than a pass with a dead hook.

You're wrong a car that has a lower ET has a faster trap time. It's plain and simple as that. A car has to go faster to lower the ET, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Well yes, in general, the more power a car makes, the quicker it gets there and the faster it is going when it does get there.

However, if you're talking about one car having some wheelspin vs not having some wheelspin, our above statements are correct. Some wheelspin = worse 60' and thus slower ET, but higher trap. Dead hooking (of course depends on RPM.. if you're bogging you'll be hurting your 60' anyways) typically results in a better 60' and ET but lower MPH.

In my Camaro, my best ET was an 11.92@118.01 with a 1.7x 60' ... my best traps were in the 119s with 1.8-1.9 60's and 12.0-12.1 ETs.

If your argument is that a 10 second car is going to trap better than a 12 second car will, I will say that you are right most of the time and that I agree with you.

The OP said he was roasting the tires, that's not a little wheel spin so the car isn't accelerating as fast as it should, which means the trap speed is lower.
