I don't think you've read through what kind of R & D went into this build. This guy has spent some serious coin to get this thing streetable. (Would I do the same thing? Hellllll no)

Still seems like a long time to me. People build cars from the ground up in under 6 months. I don't think I even want to know how much $ he threw into that thing.

It may put down some serious power but how much of it actually gets to the ground? Our W-body's have an issue with traction as it is. If I had the money I would do a "crazy" build but I would keep it as a street car since you can not get the 4t65 1" chain anymore so tranny builds are limited to 450-550hp abuse.

Yes but I did not see anything that said what parts inside the tranny will handle that power. He could have gotten on of the 1" chains before they stopped making them, and those are rated at 800+whp

Default My 814.6 FWHP

Hey guys, its me, bahdeets. So you know I do have a 1" chain, came right from GMPP it may be rated at 800+ FWHP but GM uses it their 1100 HP Ecotech with a 3 speed 4T65E and a transbrake. Yes, the car did take 4-1/2 years to build but some of the parts had to be made. The block is from Dart and that took 7 months right from the start. A lot went into the tranny as far as research and part replacement. A lot of the OEM parts were literally reversed engineered and made out of aircraft quality steel or aluminum depending on the part. There was quiet a bit of internal redesign to handle the torque and HP that was going to be put to it. All parts were Cryo'd and Dyna-blued in some cases. To give you an example of part development - there is no performance dampers for the LS4 - so BHJ engineered two to fit my car. I made several trips to the engineer's house about a 3 hour drive to design it and then it was manufactured in California. I have SN 001 and I sold SN 002. That took about 6 weeks - we had some serious cooling issues, first with quality then with product design. Shipping radiators all over the country wasn't cheap and sure took up alot of time. There was alot more also, the first torque converter puked on the second dyno run and that issue took months to correct; designing a converter for the application and then building it with the right materials that would hold up also. There was not one part of this build that went easy. Mostly because parts we used would not hold up and had to be rebuilt out of materials that could withstand the pressures and HP and torque. I could go on and on. We bent both lower control arms on the dyno first time out. Now to procure more aircraft quality steel - and build those correctly. All this took time. And during all this time there were some cosmetic changes I made - minor stuff but stuff I wanted. The thing that held us up most was cooling and heat extraction - they even mocked up a wind tunnel to find where we could improve both extraction and venting. Once that was figured out then it was time to buy parts again. I am tired of typing there is so much to talk about. My build sheet is 60 pages long and if you have any specific questions I would be happy to oblige. The car dyno'd 814.6 FWHP withj 20.3# of boost. The car is streetable (somewhat) and suspension changes have been made to accomodate 12-1/2" Drag Radials (P315's). That suspension was a pain also - took several changes to make that right also. Well guys from here I would rather just answer any questions you may have. Yes, it was a 4-1/2 YEAR wait AND it will be on a truck next week and home sometime early June. There was a short article in Hot Rod July 2011 page 52. And now I submitted all my stuff to LSXTV for a feature on the car. Hopefully that will happen soon. There is a ton of pix on the MCF and a few here also. Hope this answers some questions.

LMAO, Love that he had to add in the .6 to the HP. I wasn't trying to disrespect your build at all, just saying that it took an unusual amount of time. Awesome build though, just seems like a lot of trouble. You must have a lot of extra cash on your hands. With that much time in the build you should've just tried to turn it into a RWD MC. Wouldn't that be some ****. Sitting at a light and what looks to be a LS4 MCSS pulls up, light turns green and he smokes the rear tires. I'd prolly **** myself. HAHA.

Default My 800 FWHP Monte

No disrespect taken. We are all different in our wants and likes - and this just happened to be what I wanted - anyway I did not want to butcher the car up to make a RWD car - the car looks pretty much stock and spins the front tires what else can I say. A little insight into the future - I have already started the R&D on my next project. I have an '02 SS Monte that I am going to pull the body off and put on a custom chassis. That being said this next project like my first will more than likely last a couple years also. By the way - the way I figured it, if I could make a FWD bulletproof why not!
