Default any idea what parts failed?

Tranny is nessed up. If i put the car in drive, it just revs and wont move from a stop. But if i put it in 1st it moves but it revs really high as im slowly accelerating. Does this through 2nd gear also. Once im up to like 40 mph, 3rs gear works fine and so does drive gear. Also if im just crusing lets say at 45mph and i get on it, when the car tries to downshift it revs high and doesnt really go. Torque converter? Or more to it?

Might as well get more things replaced if they are taking it out to change a torque converter. Suppose you could drop the pan and check for metal first.

I know, closer to 90-95%. Aside from mine, I personally know of one person whose failed twice, and another 5 that failed, and two that come in to the shop with issues, that's just the LS4 powered cars, I know of V6s with the same failures.

I probably work on 5 a day (4t65e) both hd and not as well as modded and not. I personally quiz each owner. Trans ussues , original trans , etc etc most of the failures but obviously not all are due to abuse. One of my customers has an 07 ss imp with 237000 miles as of monday....original trans. No cooler no tune nothing. Original owner trans flush and filter every 50k. Older gentleman. Only mod was one of those beaded seat covers. On the other hand another. Customer has on 07 charger and 08 300c both hemis both had a trans each under warranty by 60, 000 miles. Both have header back exhaust and tunes. There were millions of 4t65e equipped vehicles built over the last umteenth years and hundreds of thousands of v8 equipped 4t65e vehicles...and of course having a forum built around the vehicle is going to see a large percentage with issues. But what about all the non car enthusiasts and soccer moms and granpas and grandmas who aren't posting there non issues. Every one will post a failure because there's not a section for not have trans issues. I have almost 90k with not as much as a single hiccup. If massaged correctly it will last.

What other V8 models had 4T65Es? Only around 85000 cars came equipped with LS4s. And I said that percentage jokingly.

Yea 90k here original trans. However I've done more preventive maintnence than most. And I bought the car knowing one day the trans will go. I'm really surprised how strong this thing shifts with mods I've done done to the engine. Its better than when I bought it. But that's why I recommend people get a good tune shift kit and cooler. I also have a remote trans filter and bigger magnet in the pan

I read something like 70000 impalas and I figurwd there were less each of gxps and even less supers as well as the really rare bonneville gxps. I was overexaggerating a little but there's ao many high horsepower afternarket turbo and sc v6s as well.

The Bonnevilles have Northstars and 4T80Es.

The good, still running, pulley swapped (built) L67s have built transaxles as well.

I'm not saying its indestructible by any means...I'm just saying almost every platform has issues with transmissions when you *** power to them. I know a lot of these have failed stock by I would say its less than it seems. Were jujust all grouped together. I would say 10-15%
