Hi, I just got my 06 gxp a couple months ago. It had 142,000 miles on it and is in very good condition. We picked it up for a little over $6,000. KBB for my car was around $8,000. So im guessing one with only 60,000 should be worth 10-12k in good condition. The first thing to check on these cars is the transmission. They were absolute junk. Most of them seemed to go out prior to 100,000 miles. A lot have gone out prior to 80,000 miles. Other than that I cant think of any major problems that come up with this car. The motor is very strong and reliable. One thing to think about if you go with the gxp and not the ss cars is that the gxp has different size tires in front than in back so you cant rotate them.

I don't think he's hating on these cars, and I get fed-up when people call it hate when those of us own LS4's don't recommend them because of the transmission problems. "Hate" is when some of the F-body trolls show up and talk **** about our cars just because they're FWD.
Personally, I wouldn't buy an LS4 car again unless it already had a TEP trans installed. Furthermore, I wouldn't recommend that anybody buy one of these cars without a TEP trans installed.
Lastly, I warn people who are interested in LS4 cars to put aside $3000 to get an upgraded transmission once the inevitable failure occurs.
This isn't hate. It's reality and good sense. Not everyone is a hardcore enthusiast like some of us are and don't want to deal with repeated problems. Don't assume everyone is like you.

I bought mine 3 months ago and I absolutely love it! It's a great combination of speed, luxury and stealth. Just keep an eye on the transmission temp. I'm going to install a trans cooler on mine this summer.

My only problem is I never like the 2004+ looks If I had a choice between a 97-03 and a 04+ grand prix I would always opt for the earlier model. Though I have driven in a GXP and I still love them.

While I agree on the notion that keeping trans temps down is always a good thing, that's not what kills the transmission in these cars. I won't go into it again, but there are plenty of threads here and on GMLS4.com that explain the root causes of our transmission problems.
