Question Fix my exhaust droning! Need upgrade suggestions.

A few years ago, I bought some Flowmaster 40's (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VX2541-Performance-2-Dual-Chamber-Muffler-2-5-Offset-Center-/121171511191?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c36628797&vxp=mtr), and get comments all the time from strangers telling me how great it sounds. Well, that's true from the outside, but it drives me insane when I have to listen to it from the inside. When cruising or accelerating fast, it's fine, but when accelerating slowly it drones really loud. I'm over it, and I want something much different.

I don't want something whisper quiet.. I just want something that sounds better from the inside. I keep thinking Magnaflow, but I know very little about muffler sound except for what I've seen on youtube. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The only exhaust company that guarantees no interior drone is Corsa.

You running a cat?

I've got 40's on my LT1 Elco and it droned until I added a pair of cats.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but I do not have a cat-back. The only thing I changed were the mufflers. I'm guessing I'd have to get something like this MagnaFlow cat-back to get what I'm looking for?

Cheapest I found that cat-back is HERE, but the site looks sketchy as ****! This one seems better, but can't find any ratings for the site. Everyone else has it for $860. It'll be a bit before I can afford that. Plus it'll cost a few hundred for the install I'm sure.

support local economy---Just head in to a local muffler shop spend less than that and have them fab up a exhaust for you.

I have a dynomax bullet coming from straight pipe. It drones a little but I'm positive cats would get rid of that.

You could sound deaden the trunk. It should help and might be a little cheaper than new exhaust. I have some sitting in closet that I'll put on one day. I got it because my cutout has drone and it bothers my little girl when the windows are up.

Ya that sounds like a good way to start. I read online once about this cheap stuff at home depot that works great for sound deadening. Hopefully I can google it and find it again.

Make sure you do some good research. Some of those can start to smell real bad when it heats up in the summer months.

Have a full custom 3'' exhaust with vms stainless mufflers, no DRONE at all. They are a direct knockoff of magnaflows for half the price. Just pulled off a pair of hooker aerochamber muffs and they sounded great but had crazy drone.

mine drones but I don't mind it at all. OBX headers catless no res to magnaflow mufflers..90% of the time I have my cutout open down the highway so the full exhaust seems like nothing anymore.

I have the magnaflow cat back and kept the resonator. It only drones a little between 2 and 2.5k rpm. Its quiet when cruising but then gets pretty mean when you get on it.

I got mine from hottexhaust.com and found coupons on different forums that take like $100 off or something. I believe the member I'll_born_ss runs or has something to do with hottexhaust.com and he hooked me up. If its a different member I apologize but I'm pretty sure it was him.
