Default Heads, Cam, and Edelbrock Pro Flo XL intake

I'm going to start out saying I know this intake will not clear the stock hood without major modifications. With that being said around the first of the year the GSX will no longer be my daily. So my plans are to pull the trans and take it to TEP. I am also going to delete DOD and do an intake, heads ( tfs genx 205's or tsp 5.3 stage 2.5 heads), and cam (custom Pat G). I was looking at a FAST LSXR intake but I don't like the idea of cutting up a $1000 intake. So after looking around I came a crossed the Edelbrock. Its about as tall as a truck intake and from the way it looks if I cut the "cup" section off the alternator bracket it should fit. My only concern is weather the fuel rail will hit the alternator. Also it looks as if I would be able to use a factory ls2 valley cover avoiding the high cost of the Katech VC and adaptor. Well that's the plan give me your thoughts and ideas thanks.

If you're looking for power you should consider the cam, port your heads and go forced induction.

I was thinking about going turbo and I still am. I'm also considering nitrous. Either way neither will happen until I get the bottom end rebuild. I want to see what I can do with the top end for now.

NA you're not going to make very much for what you're paying for. But that aside you could use a FAST 92 without much being modded on the intake. It fits just as well as a LS6 intake and the TB will clear headers without the need of an adaptor.

Bottom end seems to hold up well in LS motor cars. There are numerous people running over 800+whp on good old factory bottom ends. You could just use a ls2/6 manifold and go direct port nitrous and have everything you need to kick some ***

I see you have a FAST 92 on your car. What did you have to mod if anything? Any pictures?

Wasn't so much worried about power ( a friend has a LS1 formula that puts 618 to the rear wheels). Has more to do with the fact that it has almost 110k on the clock.

This. ^

Just throw some APR rod bolts in it for peace of mind and spend the rest of your money building power.

I am curious as to how well the Pro Flo XL intake will work with a 5.3L, but I don't think is would fit under my rear decklid w/o a pretty large notch in the support rail.

I have TFS 205cc heads. And I need either e85 or bigger cam to make more power.

David put down roughly the same numbers I did. He had a bigger cam than me by a couple of degrees whereas I'm running more compression and the FAST intake. Otherwise our builds are pretty much identical.

OK so this is way off topic. I know the answer to the questions I'm gonna ask but I want reassurance that I'm correct lol. OK so the ls4 has the same stroke, deck height, main/rod bearing size, and bore spacing as an ls2 correct?

Though so. So here's another question are the flextplate bolt holes the same on a ls4 an ls2? Where the flexplate bolts to the crank.
