Default LS4 swap oil pans

hey guys, just got an LS4 for a project and looking for some advice.

I am going to modify the engine as little as possible for the time being, so all the DoD parts will stay. I wil be running megasquirt though, so DoD will be inactive. I have read this shouldnt be a problem, but feel free to correct me if im wrong!

The thing I am concerned about is I have to change the oil pan for clearance to a GTO front sump pan. I hear the DoD pans have different provisions in them and a higher flow oil pump. Is this a concern when switching pans even though DoD is inactive? Do I need to change my oil pump to something that flows less?

Thanks!

Since my dod is disabled the not having a second relief valve won't be a issue. I already bought the ls3 pan though

Megasquirt will be fine, I ran my microsquirt on my stock LS4 (w/dod) for over a year without any problems. As far as the oil pan I cant offer any info.

Perfect, that answers one of my questions! My car is running Ms2 on the current engine, but i'm probably going to upgrade to a ms3 to take advantage of sequential spark and injection and gain the extra inputs/outputs.

I'd be mindful that the ls4 is mounted sideways and the ls4 pan is designed to better keep the oil sump loaded during acceleration. The ls3 pan might not be optimized for to keep the sump loaded if mounted sideways.

Yea but the LS4 pan has zero and I mean zero baffling or oil control, at least the ls3 does.

Bad news... Any other Ls pan won't fit due too the transmission being in the way. A **** load of machining would be neccesary on the back side for it to clear.

Otherwise some mods can be done to improve our lack of oiling control I'll outline the later after I get nine all done
