Welcome, there are some things you need to get up to speed on as far as "maintenance " goes but we'll worth the money.

A. Drop the transmission pan and do a filter/fluid change

B. Highly recommended that you add a shift kit, plenty of writeups done to make it really easy.

C. You will want a transmission cooler.

D. Optional but highly recommend - get a tune done or overkill motorsports can get you hooked up as well.

All this will help you enjoy the car a lot more and actually be able to keep it out of the shop. These transmissions if preventive measures are taken can go the distance.

Welcome to the neighborhood!
In addition to what 91ParkAve said, I'd recommend a set of strut tower braces too. For not a whole lot of money these big girls can dance. Enjoy!

The transmission is definitely top on my list because damn the trannys are bad on this one I hear. But what exactly is a shift kit and what does it do ._. enlighten me ._. cuz i have NO idea what that is lol. I'll be changing my oil soon, any reccomendations for oil and filter? i hear royal purple full synthetic is great and the filter too.

ok sweet cuz they're kinda pricey ._.

what about exhaust and a cold air intake? my muffler's muffle baffle is loose and it rattles around making noise. dealer told me it isnt covered, but muffler shop can do it for 300. I said 300 for a muffler? **** that id rather get a complete exhaust system. im looking at magnaflow 2.5 in cat back. sounds good and is 732 on amazon. as for intakes, i cant decide between k&n and cold air inductions. k&n says 13.48 increase, cai says 12fwhp. the box is closed off so i figured it made sense so the air stays cold, also finished in black, i know it helps black intercoolers stay cooler so maybe it works there too? .-.

If you need new brakes, as in, your brakes are shot, then this is the way to go...

RAYBESTOS Part # EHT921H Enhanced Hybrid Technology FRONT $55
RAYBESTOS Part # EHT922H Enhanced Hybrid Technology REAR $51
CENTRIC Part # 12862091 FRONT STOPTECH DRILLED $130
CENTRIC Part # 12862092 REAR STOPTECH DRILLED $98
ZZP Stainless Steel Brake Lines $110

for my build, i fell in love with the SLP powerflo exhaust, and i just bought a used cold air inductions intake system.

nice, im probably gonna end up getting the cold air inductions one too, looks cool in black and the box haha. and did the slp exhaust add any hp? or are there any dyno results for it? it sounds cool but i wanna know if it adds ponies. I've seen the dyno results for magnaflow and it adds 7 hp and 9 ft-lb of torque.

Don't have the exhaust yet, thats down the road but thats on my list. I wouldn't expect much in the way of gains from just a cat back though, the power gains are in the headers. The FWD crossover style setup of the exhaust manifolds is awful for flow, as is the downpipe with the infamous "ubend". Expect to pick up at least 30hp with the headers where as you might only see 5hp with the catback.

resonator on the stock system is to eliminate drone from the DoD, once you do away with the DoD, it isnt an issue, 2.5" is plenty for a NA v8.
