Lightbulb Full Poly motor mount set... Prototype

It's taken a lot longer than I wanted it to, but I have the first set of all poly motor mounts for our LS4 cars... I'm in the middle of relocating so I got with Eric (08Pimpala) to test them because he's been going all out on his over-boosted Pimpala.

The quick version is the side trans mount was modeled after the LS4 specific mount (& not the 3800 mount), the rear Trans/motor mount is also modeled after a stock LS4 mount but both are cast Poly with stainless steel. The front lower is the one I make but will eventually replaced with a cast version like the other two.

Eric reports there is no engine movement even when loaded up in gear with brakes applied, but I'll let him post in his own words & videos.

If there is enough intrest to do a production run, they would likely be ready end of summer / in time for holiday shopping...

Cheers

Depends on how much it increase the vibrations in the car, that rear mount is a ***** to change to, so that's gonna be a hard sell to people who don't have their engine out. But let me know how much for the rear trans/engine mount I might be interested.

I rode in Eric's car and with all poly there was no noticeable difference from the passenger seat... I'm interested to see if he noticed any from the drivers seat. The only vibration I've got in my Turbo GXP is during deceleration while in 4 cylinder mode, so if you've tuned out DOD there shouldn't be much at all - as 91parkave has said, these are pretty smooth motors to begin with.

Oh, changing the rear mount isn't that bad - I test fit the first prototype on my driveway with just a jack & stands...

you did a fantastic job with the front mount, do you have pics of how you did the rear on the car?

Thanks! I didn't take any pictures when I did it (pressed for time), but the first prototype wasn't the right angles so I put my stock one back in = second prototype is what Eric has in his car so he can beat on them all and see if they take it!

That said, when I get one to install in my GXP I'll do an install write up. The short version is disconnect the down pipe, loosen all bolts on lower mounts and use jack in back corner to lift until it clears the mount.

Default Custom prototype mounts on my car

I have had the mounts on the car for about 1500 miles all pictures are taken yesterday and I have beat on it pretty good about 8 track passes and a 100 mile commute to work every day. The only extra vibration I have noticed is at idle witch I like it's the v8 feel. They all bolted right up no modification needed. The rear mount is a little bit shorter than the stock on the rear side but that preloads the motor as if the stock mount was compressed. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!

to show that the nuts are fully tight and mount is seated against the cradle

The front mount is the only one that needs to be shorter to slightly rock the motor foward not the other way around.

Any update on price and an ETA?

To be clear, this would be for all three bottom mounts (passenger side motor mount, driver side transaxle mount, and front motor mount) and little to no difference in drivability versus the OEM rubber-hydraulic mounts?

Is there a link to some poly mounts for the dogbone?

I'm asking because my mounts are pretty much shot.

The $40 at Intense is the poly fill pieces for the dog bone mount only. I haven't got a firm price yet because it depends on volume. They're not going to make just a handful.

I'm going to follow up with them next week and see what they need to get started on the two mounts they prototyped for me and see if they'll prototype a front mount based on the one I make. Will let Ya know.

Guessing you meant side transmission mount, if so - the 3rd & 4th pics Pimpala posted above are the side Trans mount. The 1st, 2nd & 5th pics are of the rear transmission / motor mount. Those two mounts are what was prototyped in cast poly & stainless - hoping to get a cast version of the lower front mount I make.
