Default Glasspack in place of resonator

I just bought a 28 inch thrush glasspack that I will be putting in place of the resonator. I was just going to have the resonator removed but I figured that this was going to help a little with drone and tone. I already have a muffler delete. How do you guys think it will sound? Has anyone done the same thing? Ive heard that they sound great for the first 100 miles or so. Then the packing blows out and it gets really loud. Which is fine with me. I just want to know what to expect. Thanks

When it comes to resonators i only ever recommend solo performance.

So will the glasspack be any louder than the stock resonoator? Like I said I already have a muffler delete and want a little bit more. Im sure after a while the glasspack will be really loud but what about right away?

Stay away from louvered core resonators.

glasspack is going to be alot louder then the resonator, stock resonator is baffled (chambered) to reduce sound, where as the glasspack is going to be a straight through design with fiberglass packing. Solo's QR resonators are the way to go.

Thats nice to hear! I wanted it to be louder but without the hollow sound of straight pipes.

So will the glasspack still be louder than the stock resonator?

Just a tone change really. It'll be deeper because your upgrading to a 3 inch I assume however it also cause a whole new resonance with a louvered glass pack. IMHO go with a dynomax race bullet as your resonator. You won't regret it.

Why do you call it junk. Just asking for your honest opinion

didnt make a bit of difference in the tone of the car or the drone, while i didnt have any issues with packing burning out while i had it (zzp exhaust was actually the worst ive had for that) it just didnt make a bit of difference. But you get what you pay for, I think i paid 43 dollars for it and it was the largest one they sold in 3".

you will never get rid of drone or alter the sound in a noticeable way with a straight through resonator, there isnt enough going on inside of them to actually change the exhaust flow in a way that you can hear with your ears. I've gone through thousands in mufflers and exhausts, and the only ones that ever truely made a difference where ones that physically altered the flow of the exhaust, for better or worse, and the bad part about that is if you want quiet, and you want less drone, you have to place a restriction in the system, no ifs ands or buts. I don't even look at catback systems anymore from a performance standpoint, i've never gained anything significant power wise by buying one. I see them entirely as a note tuning device at this point. You can spend countless dollars and hours trying to find the right sound.

I already have the glasspack. So I'll just put that in. Maybe try to break the glass out by heating it up and spraying cold water in it.

are you putting this on the stock exhaust or are you planning on building your own using the mandrel pipe kit they sell? Because honestly if your looking to experiment, give the dynomax VT's a try. There was a post on this forum a while ago about them. https://ls1tech.com/forums/ls4-perfo...eo-inside.html

that's back when they were relatively new. it's kind of a best of both worlds style of tuning.

I have no drone with my dynomax 3inch race bullet and twin 3inch thrush welded mufflers.

I have been through many exhausts as well and wasted way to much money. I'm finally happy with my setup.

Its you can have a straight through muffler though if you take the time to do a little math

lol interesting way to build an exhaust, ill have to give that a try sometime, but i just look at dynomax's own admission of their product to know that its not going to do anything noticeable. They literally state on the product page "helps provide up to a 4 dbA sound reduction", 4dbA on a 90+ dba exhaust @ 2500-3000rpm is going to be an inaudible change to the human ear, not to mention the express fact that its "up to" which means it will either do nothing, or barely anything by their own admission. To each their own though, one man's quiet is another man's noisy.
