need help with p0449 code
had a p0449 code pop up on my 06 mcss. it started out it would throw the code 5 seconds after car was remote started, and would kill car. I could get in, reset code, and it would be fine till the next remote start. then it came to the point, everytime the car was started it would throw the code. I can erase it, and it stays off until the next time car is started. where do I start with this code? I googled this, but not finding much info on it

P0449 (EVAP) vent solonoid Control Circuit
The DTC is set when the command state of the driver and the actual do not match for more than 5 seconds. only throws the code if this malfunction happens two ignition cycles in a row. it will automatically turn off after 3 ignition cycles when malfunction is not detected.
try replacing evap canister.
hope this helps if not post again

the car is parked till i figure out exactly whats up with it.
i bought the canister vent solenoid for this. waiting for it to show up in the mail.
you really think this and the cat problems are related? this code started about 2.5 weeks ago. what could it do to the cat though?

I don't know its related, but I don't really believe in coincidence. Usually one problem unfixed or unnoticed leads to other problems. Not sure if the vent not working could be causing the converter to overheat, just throwing **** to the wall here. Hopefully someone with more insite to these codes or problems will chime in. Good luck. Post back with your progress.

i would think if the vent isnt working, it would cause my fuel pump to work harder, due to possible vacuum in th tank, which may cause it to run lean( and possibly cooking the cat). and on that thought i would get codes for running lean on banks 1 and 2( i am just rambling here). but literally the only code is this current p0449. i checked before i left work the nite i drove it, and when i got home. so i dont think they could be tied together. but what do i know, i dont have a engineering degree. lol

On topic with this thread, my vent solenoid showed up today. But we're expecting a blizzard here in Iowa starting early in the morning till Wednesday afternoon. So it'll be a while till I get to it

thought id update this, incase anyone else has this code. I replaced the canister vent solenoid ( the one near the gas tank filler neck). cleared the code. and it seems to have fixed the problem. I don't have an active, or pending code for this anymore. thanks again everyone that helped
