Default Replacing wheel bearing on GP GXP

2008 model - I believe I have a bad wheel hub. I'm getting that "road noise" and when I put my car in reverse, the TC and ABS light comes on.

It looks like this is the correct part number?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C9QU5I...MDACX0CJ3WHP3K

What tools do I need? How big of a socket do I need to take the spindle bolt off?

Did you scan it to determine which one it is? Before you replace anything you should check the abs sensor wire to be sure nothing is cracked, clean with electronic cleaner and add a dab of dielectric grease. That is the correct hub for the front, its also one of the more expensive ones. I just used a Mevotech on the front of my 2004 Comp G, factory nut was 33mm, replacement nut that cam with the hub was 34mm. The 3 bolts are 13mm, 1/2 works better for the top bolt in my opinion. 5 lb sledge if they are original.

Thanks for the info guys. Can anyone confirm the factory hub bolt size on the '08 GP GXP? I will buy the deep well socket for it.

I have heard good results with the AC Delco (GM branded) and bad things about the cheaper hubs for those with the sensors.

Use the loaner tool system from advance or autozone, most likely its 34mm.

FYI, if anyone is wondering, the size is 33MM. 34MM might have worked, but it was loose.

You need a 33MM wheel hub socket, and 13, 15, and 16mm sockets, along with a T-30 torx screw to remove the brake rotor.

So where exactly can you jack the car up in the rear safely? I have read the pinch welds can fail and the unibody could bend. I see the provision right in front of the rear tires for I suppose the original jack, but one of them is cracked.

I'm pretty sure my rear hubs are going out.

Random question, if anyone knows. What is the factory part number for a jack?

The GXP never got a jack, the car sucks *** to jack from the rear. I do one side at a time on the frame rail.

You have a spare that you bought right? What jack do you use for the car for that "just in case" moment?

Big Red. Pep Boys or Tractor Supply every Black Friday for $10.

And if you have to jack on the pinch welds cut a slit into a hockey puck and jack with that.

That is sweet! I was wondering if something like this would work as well for that "factory" look/function:

You have to get to a junkyard, no matter the distance. Paid 10 bucks for that on my daughters GTP. You are overpaying for everything. That wont fit in the well with your existing inflation pump. Here is the pic of the car with the spare.

If I have a spare/jack set, there is no need for an air pump/tire slime. Plus, my spare wheel well is empty - it came with nothing when I bought it so I have a hole to fill anyways.

You are assuming I'm buying that one, but i was asking if it would work. However, $40.00 shipped to my door isn't a bad price for factory support filler, factory jack, and factory lugnut remover. I'm going to shop around. Time = Money, right?

Thanks for the pic, looks pretty great!

The car is new to you, but its 9 years old. Just saying save where you can. That fender brace is a couple bucks at a JY and the spare set is between 10 and 15. You could possibly find the spare as well. There will be lots to fix as its a used car. Search feature and Google can go along way. Here is another good site with lots of info. If you have not joined you should.

After looking at it more, I could use the center rear subframe area to jack it up.

That is where most probably do, don't like it myself but whatever lifts It I suppose. Once its on stands wont really matter how it got there.

Just an FYI if it matters that spare does not fit in the wheel well.

True, but its very close. Mine is down there with the factory jack, etc. The center of the trunk floor is slightly raised, but not much at all. No one ever notices unless I point it out.

Just a FYI never ever jack up the front anywhere near the rocker panel. Always go for the subframe or the part next to the rear bolt of the subframe where the frame of the body is.
