Default Mods for 08 Impala SS

Hey people.

We've got a customer who wants to mod his Impala but he and I are having trouble finding any performance parts for these cars yet. Do any of you have suggestions or can you let me know where you got yours? Also, what are the differences, if any, between 07-08 Impala SS's. I figured it would be basic 5.3 stuff but we can't find it. Thanks in advance guys.

Magnaflow exhaust is the only complete setup out there, otherwise you'll need a custom job. K&N makes an intake. Only thing you can really do for tuning is HPtuners. Hogan makes a high flow downpipe. Some people have done 1.8 rockers. Umm, one person has a nitrous setup. I'm probably forgetting some stuff. Do a search there's plenty of info here. There isn't a WHOLE lot out there, but there's enough out there to get started with some decent mods.

Yea it'll be the same. The only difference you might run across from 07-08 would be the computer. I know they're different between 06-07. The 06 guys have a Diablosport predator tuner and we don't have one for 07's yet since the computer has been harder to crack.

Very nice guys...one more question. Do these cars have a trans-cooler? If not he is wanting one just to be safe. Have any of you used any universal coolers yet? Plus, what kind of power can these trannies hold?

What kind of cams have been used before? Are they the same ones that can be used in the 5.3 trucks? If so...that's awesome. That would make things alot easier. Is any of this gonna mess with the 4 banger mode it goes into? That stuff is TRIPPY!

Not sure on the tranny cooler. However as far as power the tranny can hold, as long as you're not going FI you should be fine. As far as cams, as far as I know no one has actually really done a cam on it yet, atleast no one on here I know that much. Some people claim that a cam from any other LSx motor would work but I dunno if they would fit. The basic bolt ons won't mess with the displacement on demand. Alot of the 06 guys with the Diablosport tuners actually have their DoD(or active fuel management whatever theyre calling it now) disabled. If this guy has a deep pocket, there is a turbo setup that is available/will be available soon. There is a thread on it you can check out here. A member with a Grand Prix GXP has the first prototype of it. Although with that you would eventually need an upgraded tranny.

I hear a downgrade from those heavy chrome wheels is a good idea. Eddiemoney will be happy to trade aluminum polished wheels for chrome ones.

Yes, they do...you could look into that instead of hand-tuning via HPTuners. Their tunes are awesome.

I was considering a set of Boss 318 in black chrome. Nice 6-spoke, but went with the Boss 327's in gloss black, instead. IDK if they come in 19's though, i got 20s. I got them at JDwheels, but for the second time, they arrived in less-than-perfect condition (first time was a different retailer). I haven't done anything with them, though...they're still sitting here, lookin pretty in the box. Anyway...back to topic.

Damn that boss 318 in Black chrome looks bass add baby. I like the black chrome even more now. They would look sweet on the black impy SS. Nice recommend. As far as the DP was it worth the money?? Any noticeable gain?? I am prolly getting the magnaflow catback 2.5, high flow cat, and the DP and the res delete. Anyone suggest otherwise, let me know. Then I think I am getting the K and N CAI, the vector motorsports ecm(to avoid tuning myself cause I have little knowledge) and then calling it a day. Other than that I got the billett grill the other day, rims and thats cool with me. Maybe a sweet system, not sure yet. Would rather start out with the perf mods first.

Now that I look at it, does anyone have the DP?? Can anyone supply me with dimensions and angles?? I can pump these bad boys out at work pretty cheap. Certainly not the $100 plus they are charging on Hogan. I am still wondering about the headers though, I haven't sat down yet due to lack of free time, to design them.
