Default Tint Pictures - For those of you with crappy state tint laws like me.

So my state, like many, has crappy tint laws. I have a few requirements before I could get my car tinted:

1) Law states 70% on the front two (pretty much clear) and whatever on the back. . . . .yah that makes a whole lot of sense.
2) I wanted to tint, but didn't want to get pulled over constantly or have it look crappy.
3) I hate dark tint on the back with little or no tint on the front windows. . . just looks goofy.

So what did I end up with????? 35% on the rear window with 50% on all the sides (both front and back).

And the result: I absolutely love it, smoked looked and shouldn't get hassled by the cops. These are pictures outside my house, overcast day, with sun facing the front of the car. I wanted to post these 50% pictures because no body has pictures available and I think it looks pretty darn good. Thoughts?

BTW, no clean your car comments. .. . too much rain to bother right now.

Looks great for what you have to put up with. Just sucks that the law will not allow the front and rears to be done the same.

I gotcha beat, Illiniois, the only tint allowed would be the rear doors, no fronts at all, no back or front glass either.

Strict tint laws? Luckily they're not that bad in Miami.

5% on the sides 20% on rear window and 55% on the front windshield

Yea, but you can't really get a ticket when your car is sitting in the garage, Mike.

I hear ya, eddie! Looks good. Here's mine - 50% on the 4 doors, with the old 15% on the back three windows - but I'd love to go much darker:

...And back when I had the 35/15%:

A guy over at NAIOA has i think 25% on the front windshield of his Impala and claims he can still see well out the front even at night.

I have 35% on all my sides and 20% on the rear.

As a fellow crappy Iowan. I went to the DOT to get the exception. You can use pretty much any excuse as long as you get a doctor to sign it. In Ia. only 35 percent is legal even with the card. I have 35 all around on the Monte but I don't have pics. I would have went darker for the back window but it would have made the sides not passing the test in case I did get pulled over. Nice look on the Impy.

In Illinois you can go as darker as you want on the back doors, and rear window just nothing on the front 3. I have 5% on my back 3 and plan on adding 35% up on the front 2

Yeah, 06SS, the Illinois laws are here: http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/IL Back glass is approved to any level of darkness. I've run 5% on my my last 4 cars and never had any hassle.

I wouldn't necessarily go by what the law states, I'd go by how much they enforce it in your area. I mean if they strictly enforce the law then I guess you're SOL. But in PA for example where I live, based on the laws listed on the site above, we can't have anything darker than 70% on ANY windows(which is almost essentially saying no ting period). They just don't enforce the law for the most part unless you're really dark. Although the law states 70 you can pretty much have anything down to 35% and be fine. I even know people with 20 all around have had no problems.

If you really want darker tint just go to your regular doctor and ask if he will give you a medical exemption :X wouldn't hurt to ask hehe

I just got a ticket in Michigan last weekend for the tint on mine. Not sure what % mine is, but you cannot see in the car. It was on it when I bought it. Ticket is $105 or have the tint taken off. Cop said you can have the back window and quarter windows tinted, but not the driver and passenger door windows. Not sure if they give you points for it in Michigan, if not then I'll just pay it as I don't want to have it taken off at this time.
