thermostat I'm looking to get a lower temp thermostat. Should I get a 180 degree or 160 degree? I've heard the ls4s like to run a little hotter and that a 160 degree thermostat would mess the computer up. Is this true?

187 is what I heard but I swear its 195. I'm going to get a 160 and have my fans readjusted again. With a 160 T state you will need to reset your stock fan settings or else you will defeat the purpose of a quicker opening T stat. When I replace mine I'm going to drop that sucker into a boiling pot of water to see when it opens.

P.s. look on the factory thermostat it says 86* C = 187* F. Trust me on this one i wasted the time and money i know for next time. Trending Topics

Also Nacho if you look at my post it says 180* is a waste not 160*. I said 160* isn't really nessecary unless your using forced induction where heat and detonation comes into play. no need to change your t-stat... 160 is no good... will cause issues... and the stock t-stat is 187*....
just get a tune to adjust your fan power % and you'll be golden...
I adjusted my fans, and even in 90* heat/humidity, my ECT hasn't gotten above 197*...
our engines like to be hotter than 180* degrees anyway...
leave it as is...
