A few people on here are running Advanced Induction (Ai) crate engines. I will be running an LS3 from them shortly.

All depends what you want.
You can build a cheap 383 that meets the requirements of "Yes, you can say you have a 383"
You can build a moderate 383 that gives you the bragging right and most of the performance for a few years.
You can spend a little more and the 383 will handle a power adder for a few years as well.
Or, you can build a bullet-proof 383 that will last you 10-20+ years and take anything you can throw at it.

When I questioned my engine builder he said
"People come in here all the time claiming they got their last motor at X shop for 1/4 the price 2 years ago"
He then asks "So, why are you here?"
(I'll give you a hint ... it's not because that cheap build lasted)

Not every 383 owner has the need or budget to build a $10000 motor.
It all depends on what your goals are. (financial and performance)

Do they sell LT1 Shortblocks? I only saw LS1 shortblocks and LT1 Longblocks on their site..........

Also check out Ellwein Engines for a good long block

They only have the packages listed on their website, but if you call them they'll build what ever you want...short block, long block, etc...

Bought my 383 shortblock off ebay for 2K. People blast ebay shortblocks all the time. Both of my friends are running the shortblock below. One for N20 and compression and one who runs 20psi of boost. Both with over 10K miles on them and ZERO problems

Be careful and keep in mind that anyone, I mean anyone can bust up a $10,000 high quality, blueprinted 383 LT1 if the tune up is bad. Some of the best and longest running motors are the cheap-oh-super-budget motors. Motor longevity is more in having a good tune up.
And it's been said so many times before but I'll jump on the bandwagon and say it again, the power is in the heads and cam. Get the best heads you can afford and skimp on the bottom end if you have to.

PS: oh hey, ABA383 thanks for the plug.
