Sounds like the Clutches are wore out, lime for a rebuild.

+1 sounds like clutchs. just dont use that case for the rebuild. try to find a case that has the letter K on it. stronger case that was used with the v8 in our cars as long as the vettes and trucks. well thats what i was told when i was searching for a new case to start fresh.

maybe someone knows and prove me wrong.

yea your right the bell housing are completely different, only the 4.3 has the same bell housing. i was also completely wrong about the internals being "weaker". sorry. (found a whole thread on the "myth")

did you changed the fluid before the swap? did you notice if it was discolored or burnt?

there would be no reason for the cases to be different at all!! they are made out of the same ALUMINUM!!! bellhousing is different and the internals are built differently...they wont hold as much power as a v8 will...

on second thought though it sounds to me like your cluthes as well

when i pulled my tranny and sent it to cahill performance transmission in DE the fluid looked like 3,000 mile motor oil btw i def recommend him... small operation, very helpful and considerate.... FLT is another place i would recommend i have only heard great things from them... when the time comes for a th400 or glide i will go to them... but u cant beat the personal relationship and 4l60e knowledge u can have with cahill performance transmissions, Frank Cahill is a great guy
